The movie, “Mary of Nazareth” is a real heartwarming and riveting story of a young girl who lived 2,000 years ago…her hopes, challenges, love, and faith – who, by the grace of God, becomes the Mother of God! I used to think of Mary, Jesus, and Joseph in a more abstract way, not so much living and feeling like everyday people. Prior to the movie, I guess I thought of Mary and Joseph’s role as more of an assignment and duty…I enjoyed the perception of Mary and Joseph’s relationship as a love story with a wedding and Joseph as Mary’s protector…I always imagined Joseph as a carpenter building pieces of furniture…but really enjoyed the concept of Joseph building the home Mary and Jesus lived in. How Mary and Joseph must have enjoyed being proud parents and teachers of Jesus and been in awe as the mysteries began to unfold. Mary came to terms with what was real in a physical and spiritual world – to accept the angel and then believe the angel’s message, to exercise unfathomable faith and endurance that what the angel said would happen, did happen, and later on, what Jesus said would happen, did happen, the lifetime it took for things to unfold, and the courage and love it took to stand by her son while he was unjustly crucified. Also, it was interesting to see Mary’s transformation of understanding and acceptance from son to her Lord – was humbling and at the same time exalting. From the cross, Jesus offered the world a tremendous gift in Mary. Jesus identified Mary as our Mother – we have been blessed with a Holy Mother, full of grace, Queen of Heaven and Earth – a mother who lived on earth and knew joys and hardships, who lived and suffered with Christ our Lord, is now ours to run to. Mary epitomizes the humble faith-filled servant of the Lord! What a wonderful example she is for us to follow…Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. I highly recommend this movie… bring Kleenex 🙂

Saw the movie Mary of Nazareth. It was much better than my highest expectations. And to say that I had tears in my eyes would be an understatement.
My suggestion would be to promote the screening of this movie in all Christian churches. And, if costs allow, to do so for the population at large.
The movie was successful- put a human touch from a mother’s perspective to the life of Jesus and the special role his mother had in and during that life.
Keep up the extraordinary good work.
