Confirmed Catholics are known as soldiers of Christ.

Bear your share of hardship along with me like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

To satisfy the one who recruited him, a soldier does not become entangled in the

business affairs of life.

2 Timothy 2:3-4

Soldiers are not faint – hearted and are not easily discouraged. As soldiers of Christ, our loyalty should not be questioned, and we should not back down at the threat of the enemy. A soldier in active service works twenty – four hours a day and separates himself from the everyday life affair. A good soldier takes his role seriously, training both his mind and body in readiness for war. He is also aware of his weakness, the strength of his enemy and the source of his own strength.

A soldier of Christ is dedicated, bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit, and ready to fulfil his obligations to the Lord. He also follows the commander dutifully or he exposes himself to danger and death eventually. Earthly things should not interfere with our commitment to the Lord. Faithful Christians encounter a lot of hardship but trusting Jesus, He will give us victory when we willingly deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him.

As a soldier of Christ, are you pleasing the one who enlisted you? Are you wholly dedicated to the Lord and His service? Are you contending for your faith? Our spiritual commander-in-chief is calling us today. Being a good soldier requires effort and sacrifice. We should realize that we are not called to be part-time soldiers.
