Christians face a lot of societal pressure to keep their faith in Christ hidden.Identifying with Christ often comes at a high cost. But being a Christian means taking a stand for Christ.

Nevertheless many even of the authorities believed in Him, but for fear of the Pharisees, they did not confess it, lest they should be put out of the synagogue. For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

John 12:42-43

While we may not approve of the lack of integrity and courage of those mentioned in the above passage, we should also ask ourselves how often we have failed to stand for Christ when the stakes are lower. Standing for Jesus invites persecution (2 Timothy 3:12) and the only way to avoid it is by living an ungodly life and entangling yourself with the world.

Are there times you choose to be quiet so you can hide your identity as a Christian? Even if you cannot be a verbal witness for Christ, let it be seen in your attitude and your resolve not to compromise.Whatever the cost, let us stand as a people who seek God’s approval more than human praise.
